Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry (GS-MS)

GAS CHROMOTOGRAPHY MASS SPECTROMETER (GS-MS)

Brand: SHIMADZU

Model: QP2010 ULTRA

Working Principle:

Gas chromatography/mass spectroscopy is the combination of two powerful analytical techniques. Gas chromatography separates the components in the mixture. Mass spectroscopy assists in the structural identification of each component. It has important advantages such as identification of very small samples, strong structural analysis, and fast analysis time. The GC-MS system enables the separation of gaseous or gasifiable samples by mass chromatographic method in the determination of elements in multicomponent mixtures. It is a high performance and high speed gas chromatography mass spectrometry system used for qualitative and quantitative studies in advanced level (organic, inorganic and biological) molecular structure determinations with the help of obtained spectra. In gas chromatography, after the substances in the mixture are separated from each other, they ionize and in mass spectrometry, the elements are determined depending on the masses of the substances in the mixture.

Scope of application:

Gas chromatography is widely used in the field of chemistry as a suitable method for the analysis and separation of gases and volatile substances. In addition, qualitative and quantitative analysis of alkaloids, terpenes, steroids, drugs, petroleum products can be made. The method is also frequently used in forensic medicine and drug analysis.
